Rewards for climate protectors

OSRAM launches a reward scheme with three partner companies

On September 1, 2008 OSRAM will be launching a reward scheme relating to climate protection in which every consumer can take part. All they have to do is cut out and collect the barcodes from the packaging of energy-saving OSRAM lamps. Depending on the type of lamp, consumers will receive a certain number of points that they can exchange for attractive rewards. There is also a competition with fantastic prizes. “This campaign is yet another example of OSRAM’s commitment to energy savings and climate protection. The rewards will encourage consumers to buy energy-saving OSRAM products, and be kind not only to their wallets but also to the environment”, said Udo Beer, responsible for Sales Retail Marketing at OSRAM.

In these times of global warming it is important that each and every one of use contributes to environmental protection. OSRAM has long been making its own significant contribution with sustainable products and processes. The eco-friendly company, together with Siemens, the Postbank and eco-electricity supplier LichtBlick, now plans to reward consumers who play their part in protecting the environment by purchasing energy-saving lamps.

The reward scheme will run from September 1, 2008 to November 30, 2010. Points will be awarded for the barcodes from the packaging of energy-saving OSRAM lamps. The rules are simple. Consumers cut out and collect the barcodes and then send them in to OSRAM. Depending on the energy savings of the particular lamp, between two and ten points will be awarded for each barcode. An OSRAM DULUX EL SENSOR energy-saving lamp with a life of 15 years for example will qualify for ten points. Energy-saving lamps such as the OSRAM DULUX SUPERSTAR with a life of ten years qualify for six points, and the new HALOGEN ENERGY SAVER lamps with up to 30% energy savings for two or three points.

Consumers can exchange the points for various prizes depending on the number of points collected, such as waterproof “DOT-it” LED lights or three free months on a LichtBlick eco-electricity contract.

There will also be a competition that anyone can enter. This will be independent of the reward scheme. A prize draw will take place every two months within the campaign period. Once again, it will all be about energy-saving products. For example, the first prize will be a Siemens fridge freezer with energy efficiency label A++.
