Car Lights from OSRAM – Synonymous with Quality and Safety

High-quality brands for the OEM and replacement parts markets

OSRAM is the world’s number one in light applications for vehicles and an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for all top-drawer automotive and headlight manufacturers. About half the cars produced worldwide every year leave the manufacturing plant with lights from OSRAM. The company also offers original equipment quality in the after-sales area for all products in the 12-volt and 24-volt categories. For drivers, this means consistently good light on the one hand and safe driving in the dark on the other.

“As market leader in the field of car lights, OSRAM satisfies the highest standards, both in terms of manufacturing quality and the performance of its products. OSRAM always stays true to its philosophy, also offering brand products in original equipment quality for its customers in the after-sales field. This translates into car lights which have the same specifications as those which are built into new cars”, says Gunnar Eberhardt, marketing director for the automotive aftermarket at OSRAM. The company constantly develops its products further – far beyond the requirements of the public authorities in Europe. It is always guided by the tenet that no technical innovation shall be implemented at the expense of quality. For this reason the products from OSRAM are subject to fixed innovation cycles, following the proverbial principle of “quality not quantity.”

Tight product portfolio for any need

Another important principle is that of customer orientation. The manageable product portfolio with high-quality lights offers the perfect car light for any need. In addition to the solid standard products in the halogen and xenon range, OSRAM offers lights for special requirements and concerns. Drivers who cover great distances and daytime running light users, for instance, are well advised to opt for the highly durable halogen light OSRAM Light@Day®. Design-oriented customers may want to choose the OSRAM Cool Blue®, which gives car fronts a special look. In the commercial vehicle field OSRAM also offers the best light in the 24-volt category on the market: its TRUCKSTAR®. For years such renowned commercial vehicle manufacturers as MAN, Volvo and Mercedes have put their trust in the quality of this product. All OSRAM lamps are impressive lights due to their above-average brightness and long product life, contributing significantly to general road safety.

A plus for road safety

According to representative survey among German drivers conducted by the market research institute TNS in 2007, about 30 percent of them do not like to drive at night or in the dark, as this makes them feel insecure. The annual accident statistics also reveal that, in relationship with traffic volume, most accidents happen at night – and that they very often have a lethal outcome. OSRAM counters this fact with an unbeatable product. OSRAM Night Breaker® is striking with its above-average light yield and brightness. With 90% more light on the street and about 10% brighter light, Night Breaker is one of the most powerful halogen lamps on the market. Along with the brakes, lights are one of the most critical elements of an automobile. Even though a car with bright headlights is considered fit for driving – perfectly functioning light is vitally significant for the safety of all motorists and cyclists.

Sponsor and partner of the Light Test

OSRAM puts its efforts into increasing road safety not only with its products, but also with such important campaigns as the annual Light Test of the German Association for Motor Trades and Repair (Zentralverband Deutsches Kraftfahrzeuggewerbe, ZdK). As the ZdK’s official light partner, OSRAM also makes an important contribution to the safety of drivers in Germany during the Light Test 2008. At the beginning of the light season in the fall, this year already marks the 52nd time the Light Test will take place, from October 1 through 31, 2008, offering drivers the opportunity to have their light system inspected free of charge at some 40,000 qualified workshops throughout Germany.
