Shooting starts for brilliant OSRAM light
OSRAM extends HMI portfolio for film and television lighting
OSRAM has been featured in film and television lighting for many years now. The new star on the set: HMI 24000W/DXS. Worldwide the largest double ended metal halide lamp with a luminous flux of over two million lumens as well as excellent temperature stability, it guarantees maximum performance in the film studio. OSRAM is set to introduce the prototype of this new lamp for the first time at the PLASA in London. The market launch is scheduled for December 2008.

With a rated lamp wattage of 24,000W, a luminous flux of 2.3 million lumens, and outstanding thermal resistance, the new HMI 24000W/DXS bathes film sets in the right light.
The new metal halide lamp from OSRAM displays its strengths especially at major location shoots: with a luminous efficiency of up to 100 lm/W, an outstanding colour rendering index of Ra > 90, and a daylight-like color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin, it provides optimal lighting for any shoot, features hot re-start and can easily be used in Fresnel luminaires.
2.3 million lumens for outstanding light on the set
The lamp innovation from OSRAM owes its superior efficiency to the new multiple sealing foil system of four molybdenum foils. Using eXtreme Seal technology from OSRAM, the lamp reduces thermal stress. The maximum allowable seal temperature in the lamp increases from 350 to 450°C, thus improving the average life of the HMI 24000W/DXS to reach up to 375 hours. With a rated lamp wattage of 24,000W, the lamp produces a luminous flux of 2.3 million lumens, an increase of 25 per cent compared to the HMI 18000W/DXS from OSRAM. Film sets can now simulate daylight at any time of the day or night.
