OLED installation "Dandelion" by OSRAM in the BMW museum in Munich
The OLED installation "Dandelion" by OSRAM in the BMW museum in Munich can be seen up to the end of January 2013. The innovative design sculpture consists of almost 1,000 individual organic light-emitting diodes. With this light installation, OSRAM is providing a spectacular contribution to this year's theme "Light" in the BMW museum.
The "Dandelion" will be on view in the so-called "Museum Bowl" up to the end of January 2013. The "Museum Bowl" houses the temporary exhibitions at the BMW museum. The OLED lighting installation by OSRAM, surrounded by modern BMW vehicles, provides a visual highlight.
The innovative OLED technology offers exciting possibilities for lighting experts, lighting designers and users. The technology, which has yet to reach maturity, has already overtaken lighting with traditional incandescent lamps and halogen lamps in terms of efficiency. The technology is developing rapidly and has the potential to draw level with fluorescent lamps with regard to energy efficiency and service life, or even to surpass them. Furthermore, OLEDs are mercury-free and their light produces neither UV nor IR radiation.
